Juniper Mill at REACH
Western juniper trees are a common sight in the Great Basin of the Pacific Northwest. In the last 150 years, the acreage covered by western juniper has dramatically increased. Juniper are known to compete with native vegetation for already scarce water resources. An area with relatively high juniper density often has little understory vegetation. Juniper currently is being removed in an effort to restore native grasslands. We are committed to developing practical uses for this underutilized resource and to the employment of people with disabilities. JMAR is the largest manufacturer of juniper wood products in the United States.
Aromatic and Durable
Made of juniper heartwood and sapwood, JMAR Juniper products are more
durable than products made from other Pacific Northwest species. Aromatic Juniper offers
insect resistant characteristics similar to its Red Cedar cousin but lasts more than 30 years, longer than any other untreated western species.
Strong and Rot Resistant
If wood shrinks or swells, nails may pop up creating weak joints. Juniper has a higher,
more reliable nail withdrawal value than Douglas Fir or Ponderosa. Juniper is naturally more resistance to decay than Redwood, Western Red Cedar or Lodgepole Pine. Western Juniper has been used for decades for fence posts, poles, and corrals because it is extremely durable and resistant to rot.
Environmentally Friendly
Because Juniper quickly consumes large amounts of water, it threatens plant
and animal life within native forests and grasslands. Using Juniper helps to prevent
waste and preserve vital ecosystems.
All-natural and non-treated, JMAR Juniper timbers and poles are sustainable and renewable products that are environmentally safe for all your landscaping and agricultural projects.
